HORIZON BQ-270 – Automatic Single-Clamp Perfect Binder 2007
- Manufacturer: HORIZON
- Model: BQ-270
- Year: 2007
- Type: Automatic perfect binder
We are offering this 2009 C.P. BOURG BB3002, equipped with a Nordson VersaPail PUR glue system.
This machine is primarily intended for printers who want to produce books and brochures with perfect binding in-house without investing in a much larger industrial binding line.
The BB3002 is a single-clamp machine. It is therefore well suited to small and medium-sized production runs, with frequent changes of format and job type.
It is also an interesting solution for a printer currently outsourcing perfect binding who wants to bring this process in-house with a controlled investment.
According to the manufacturer's documentation, the BB3002 can process books from 1 to 60 mm thick, with a maximum production rate of up to 600 cycles per hour, depending on the configuration and production conditions.
PUR: for books designed to last
This BB3002 is equipped with a Nordson VersaPail PUR glue system, reference 8097940, installed in 2009.
PUR is particularly interesting for jobs where binding quality and durability are important.
This technology is well suited to the production of art books, catalogues, illustrated books, product catalogues and publications intended to be kept and handled over time.
The advantage is therefore not simply the ability to produce perfect-bound books, but to offer a binding technology suited to jobs requiring a durable binding.
The Nordson VersaPail system is specifically designed for the application of hot-melt adhesives and provides the BB3002 with an industrial PUR gluing system.
As with any equipment using PUR adhesive, the application system requires thorough maintenance to prevent adhesive from curing and blocking components of the system.
A machine still in production
This BB3002 has not been sitting in storage for several years or been out of service.
It is currently being used by a French printing company and will be replaced in October 2026, solely to increase the site's production capacity.
The machine can therefore be inspected and seen running before dismantling.
Its counter shows approximately 525,000 brochures, a relatively low figure considering its year of manufacture and its current use in production.
Its replacement is not due to a breakdown or operating problem, but to the changing production requirements of its current owner.
Capabilities suited to a variety of production jobs
The BB3002 can produce books and brochures in a range of formats.
According to C.P. Bourg documentation, the machine can handle:
These specifications allow the machine to handle everything from relatively thin brochures to much thicker books.
The machine is not intended to replace an industrial line dedicated to very high volumes. Its advantage lies instead in allowing a printer to produce a wide variety of perfect-bound jobs in-house, with a single machine and without installing a much larger production line.
Why this machine is interesting
This C.P. BOURG BB3002 brings together several features that are not often found on the same used machine:
For a printer looking to start producing perfect-bound books in-house, this machine provides access to a genuine industrial binding solution with PUR adhesive, without the need to invest in a new line or an installation designed for much higher production volumes.
It can also be used as a complementary machine by a finishing company looking to handle specific jobs or small production runs without tying up a higher-capacity line.
Availability
The machine is currently in production at a French printing company.
It is available from October 2026 and can be inspected in France before dismantling.
