C.P. BOURG BB3002 – Single-Clamp PUR Perfect Binder – 2009
- Manufacturer: C.P. BOURG
- Model: BB3002
- Year: 2009
- Type: Professional single-clamp perfect binder
We are offering this HORIZON BQ-270, an automatic single-clamp perfect binder manufactured in 2007.
The BQ-270 is designed to automate the various stages of paperback book production: book block feeding, spine preparation, milling and notching, glue application, cover feeding and positioning, pressing, and delivery of the finished book.
This single-clamp machine is designed for the production of books, catalogues, brochures, reports, manuals and other documents requiring perfect binding.
An Automatic Single-Clamp Perfect Binder
The HORIZON BQ-270 operates with a single book-block clamp, which automatically adjusts its opening to the thickness of the book block.
The machine accepts book blocks ranging from 1 to 50 mm in thickness and can produce books up to 320 × 320 mm.
The minimum book size specified by HORIZON is 135 × 105 mm.
The BQ-270 can therefore handle a wide range of formats, from small publications to large-format books.
Automatic Spine Preparation
Before gluing, the book block is prepared by a milling and notching station.
The milling depth is adjustable up to 3 mm, allowing spine preparation to be adapted to the paper type and job requirements.
Depending on the machine configuration and settings, the machine can also operate in different binding modes, including milling and gluing, gluing without milling, or gluing untrimmed book blocks.
EVA Hot-Melt Gluing System
The BQ-270 uses an EVA hot-melt gluing system.
Glue is applied by a system comprising two spine-gluing rollers and side-gluing rollers.
The amount of glue and the gluing length can be adjusted via the machine's control system.
The glue operating temperature is adjustable within a range of approximately 120 to 180°C, according to the manufacturer's technical specifications.
This system ensures consistent glue application to the spine of the book block and the side areas required for binding.
Automatic Cover Feeder
The BQ-270 is equipped with an automatic suction-fed cover feeder.
Covers are automatically fed from a stack located in the upper section of the machine.
The maximum cover stack height is 70 mm.
The system also includes a cover creasing function, with adjustable crease positioning to accommodate different book formats.
The cover is then automatically registered and positioned on the book block before pressing.
Cover Formats
The BQ-270 accepts covers up to 320 × 660 mm.
The minimum cover size specified in the manufacturer's documentation is 135 × 230 mm.
The supported cover paper weight ranges from 82 to 302 g/m².
These specifications make the BQ-270 suitable for a wide variety of covers used for books, catalogues, brochures and commercial publications.
Pressing and Finishing
After the cover has been applied, the book block passes through the pressing station, which forms the square spine and holds the cover in position.
The rigid design of the pressing system helps achieve a consistent book spine finish.
The finished books are then delivered to the machine's receiving area.
Automation and Operation
The BQ-270 features a control system that allows the main production settings to be adjusted directly on the machine.
Automatic adjustments include adapting the machine to the book-block thickness and job format.
The BQ-270 was designed to facilitate quick job changes and to handle production runs involving a wide variety of formats.
A Machine Suited to Short and Medium Production Runs
With a stated maximum output of 500 cycles per hour, the BQ-270 is suitable for the production of books, brochures and catalogues requiring automatic perfect binding.
Actual production speed naturally depends on the book format, block thickness, paper type, machine settings and the time required for loading and production operations.
